The Sulphur crested Cockatoo is an intelligent and curious bird that can live for 20-40 years in the wild and up to 70 years in captivity. When the flock feeds on the ground one bird usually stays high up in a tree as lookout for danger. This behavior has led to the term cockatoo, or cocky for short, to be used in Australia when describing a lookout
