Saint Valentine Hearts - Michelle Reeve
Saint Velentine, of Valentinius, was a third century Roman saint who was martyred on the Via Flaminia and buried on July 23rd. He was a fairly obscure saint, of whom little is known and The feast of St Valentine was established on February 14th in the end of the 5th century CE. It has since grown to be a time for celebration of love throughout the western world.
This watercolor is a depiction of the Saint with 16 hearts. Sixteen is a significant number as it a Biblical symbol of Love, representing the 16 distinct qualities of love mentioned by the Apostle Paul.
